Two years ago, I joined the addictive world of model horse collecting. It was pretty much an accidental find, but one I am very glad to be a part of.

I have always loved horses and art. For as long as I can remember, my favorite escape was through pencil and paper. I would spend hours out in the fields in high school, trying to recreate that perfect scene.

After I graduated from high school, life took over, and my art unfortunately took a backseat to working full time and trying to support myself. Then, in 2007, I joined IMVU, retexturing 3D objects, where I am an active seller to this day. My catalog is full of mainly horses and equestrian objects. On my ever growing search for the perfect reference picture in which to use for my retexturing, I kept coming across these magnificent horse sculptures in Google. One day, my curiosity got the better of me, and I set out to find exactly what these creations were....and there began my interest in the model horse hobby!

My first custom was a paint your own Breyer set that came with mohair. After skipping the dried up acrylic paint, and purchasing a set of pastels, the process and the finished product went extremely well. I then purchased some Amazing Sculpt and decided to recreate a Breyer 5 Gaiter. This process did not turn out as I had imagined. His completed self sits on my bookshelf, just in case my ego should ever get a little bit inflated.

Armed with a little more knowledge, and a ton of references, I am happy to say that my sculpting and painting skills have improved tremendously from the first attempt at customization. Several of my pieces have NAN qualified, which I am very proud of.
